The airlock computer is used to open and close the inner and outer airlock doors.
It can also be used to pilot the ship

remotely, without having to reach the pilot station; however you cannot fly in cockpit mode from the airlock computer.
The airlock computer is also the only way to modify the ship's layout, using the interior ship editor.
